Orr, Minnesota

We're taking a road trip from Delafield to Banff National Park in Alberta Canada....will probably be about 4000 miles over three weeks.  We left at 8:45 am and arrived in Orr, Minnesota 8 hours and 500+ miles later.  We've never been this far north in Wisconsin or Minnesota, so it was fun to be in new territory.  I knew they grew lots of cranberries in Wisconsin but this was our first time seeing them.
We saw bits and pieces of Lake Superior, Superior and Duluth.  Lots of big mills up this way.

Have not made any arrangements for places to stay, so when we got close to Voyageurs National Park we stopped at the first visitors center we came upon -- which happened to be in Orr.  We were told most of the resorts only took weekly rentals, so we decided to stay at Norman's One Stop, a quaint cozy little old place in town. Get my drift?

Naturally I needed a walk after being in the car all day...so I went looking for an adventure.
We are on Pelican Lake...looks like lots of fishing goes on here.

Overcast but warm...

Seems like things are pretty slow and easy in these parts...

These geese were pretty nervous when I walked towards them but they all turned away when I lifted the camera up.  Pretty funny.

Had breakfast for dinner at the local cafe and now we need to make a plan for tomorrow.  Hope to do some hiking and find a way to get out on the water and over to the islands.   We found out the tour boats don't start running until June 14th.  Will let you know how that goes...
