Xiling Gorge

There are dozens of lighthouses along the river due to all the twists and turns the river takes, as well as tributaties along the way.

This is the Century Star...front and back...

Each town where cruise ships stop have a gauntlet of shops you manuever around.  Many times they leave you alone when you come through from the ship...they understand you are headed for a tour at a certain time.  When you are on your own coming back to the ship, you better not stop and admire something unless you are serious about buying.  The store owners come right out, pick up the item, and insist on bartering.  They name their price and then hand you a piece of paper for you to write what you are willing to pay.  It can go back and forth several times before a deal is struck.

This morning we were up early for scenic cruising through the Xiling Gorge, the first and longest of the Yangtze River's Three Gorges.  Along this stretch of the river, jagged cliffs of stratified rock hang over the water.  Is was very beautiful, quiet, and filled with interesing things to watch for...the trip took about an hour...then we docked and ate breakfast.  They had a nice Chinese/American buffet.  I am finding things to eat, but really missing my apples and pears.
