Was a day around the house today...cooking for 15, ironing, visiting, planning, working on projects. Andy and I continue to get worn out in the heat.
After lunch I took some friends to the little grocery store up the street to get some supplies.
While they shopped, I got my haircut at a little salon next door. It was fun!
First a young Filipino gal washed my hair...who gets that kind of service anymore?
Then a gal from Jordan gave me a very good cut. When she blew it dry, I really liked it. I should have asked her to stop right then. Little did I know what was coming next!
Before I knew it, she had some goop in her hands, rubbing it in my hair, and drying my hair again - this time using a tiny brush. She somehow dried and ratted my hair at the same time. Then, when she was pleased with it, she sprayed it heavily with something else. The three young girls watching were delighted with the results.
I thanked her, paid (about $25.00), and came home to brush it out. Ouch! It was so stiff and so ratted it hurt to brush it out. I worked at it for about 10 minutes, moaning the whole time. I really do think I will like it after I shower tomorrow morning! And I really did enjoy talking to her!
Tonight Andy and I took some new friends to the mall to get phone cards. We had heard about a "first time ever real life Monopoly game" going on at the Mall - with a chance to win 500 dirhams (about $138.00) every ten minutes.
This is in the local Mirdif City Center Mall....one of four big lobby type areas.
The guy in the top hat was in charge and explaining what was happening on the floor.
The contestants each got three or four turns. The one out in front at the end of the
10 minutes won the money.
You can see how big the playing pieces and houses are here....
The camel playing piece was a fun touch! Notice the jail in the corner....
Not sure it is bringing in the crowds they expected...what do you think?
The newspaper ad says it going on for 10 days.
Watch for it in a Mall near you!

That will be interesting to see if the live monopoly game catches on....we'll be watching for it. Fun.
