Kolob Canyons

We left the hotel in Cedar City early and got to Kolob canyons when it opened.  It is at the very north end of Zion National Park.  The scenic drive is only five miles long but it was beautiful.

The sun was coming up behind these rock formations so the color isn't nearly the vibrant orange we saw.  It was windy, cloudy, and chilly.

We did take a one mile hike at the top of the ridge on Timber Creek Overlook Trail. It offered several wonderful vistas,  changing cloud patterns, pretty trees and plants....

They developed a clever way to make a path through a place that gets water flows through it when there is a lot of rain.

The clouds moved through the valley before our eyes...very pretty, but the wind was strong.

Low clouds with sun shining thru at just the right angle over this mountain off in the distance to the west.

The blue skies broke thru for a few minutes....next thing we knew it was raining!

These peaks were quite pretty but I could not capture it with the clouds and the position of the sun.  Andy had to remind me that WE got to see it and enjoy it....but I wanted to capture it!

We saw this off in the distance when we got back to the visitors center.  I do believe we could see all the way to Nevada!
