Sunday Night

Sunday is a work day... after fixing breakfast and cleaning up the dishes, JoAnn and I cleaned out the multiple freezers at the house.  I did some ironing and then started a grocery list for the week.  We will have about 30 friends here for the week of Christmas so it is no small task.  Will start pre-cooking tomorrow.  Have two 24 pound turkeys already.  It's going to be a week in the kitchen!  Pray for good sleep, strength, stamina, and joy in the journey!

Now it's 3:30 ... I'm taking a new friend to Global Village.  She and her husband have lived in places around the world - he works for an oil company.  They have now retired and are on their way back to Canada to be near their kids and grandkids.  I'll post some pictures when we get back!

Okay, I'm back and we had a great time.  We were there for over 4 hours, walked over 4 miles, and went through all 30 pavilions representing 75 nations.  Saw some new details and enjoyed a tasty shawarma.

There were several of these guys selling near near the Turkey pavilion, but they spent more time talking than selling tea!

New entrance with a info booth....

I got a kick out of their sign...

Artisans at work....

Look at the sharp tool he is using....to make a tapestry.

JoAnn and I in the elaborate UAE historical set up in their Pavilion...

We had pistachio ice cream cones in the Turkey Pavilion and the guys were actors as well as servers, pretending to slip and fall into you as they gave you you cone - getting ice cream in your face!

The ice cream scoop was about 2 feet long and went deep into the pans of ice cream, which cost a small fortune!

The lobby of the Russian Pavilion was colorful and extravagant!

Can't remember where this was taken but I love the 2 guys in the picture...just chillin'!

Love the water canal..

The entrance is exceptional...

Inside and outside....these were supposed to be pano shots....

Gotta love how big and incredible this place is - true to form for Dubai!  A great night after a busy work day!

Now, time for bed!
