What fun we are having with young children! Have I mentioned this before? Andy seems to be mesmerized by them. They are very, very cute. One day on the expressway I made eye contact with a little boy about Anders age ~ they were in another bus next to us rolling down the highway. It looked like he and his sister were on an outing with their grandparents. They were smiling at the unusual collection of white, foreign people in the bus next to them. We jockied (is that a word?) back and forth for the next few miles as traffic started and stopped along the way. I smiled and waved and this little guy just started giggling and could not stop. We played peek a boo and waved. His grandparents were smiling ear to ear. Little children here often spread their fingers out flat in front of their faces...then shake them...when having their pictures taken. So, I did that and he laughed even more, keeping eye contact the whole way. Was really fun.
I think we saw 6-7 wedding couples during our time in China. They take pre-wedding pictures to display at the wedding and then more pictures the day of the wedding. So here are some pre-wedding pictures...they were happy to pose! The couple above smiled ~ most of them prefer a really serious pose like the couple below.
Weddings are huge affairs at hotels...ceremony at noon with lunch immediately following. The husbands family is responsible to purchase the couples apartment and furnishings as well as covering the wedding costs. The wife's family pays a dowry to the husbands family.
