I don't have much to report on the time on the trail as faras scenery. Imagine Kansas - sun beating down, just a little breeze, blue skies, field after field on very flat land, a river here and there. The one cool thing was, we were on the route of the old paved Roman road known as Via Aquitana. There is no sign of the old road but cool to know it was right here years ago.
There were no facilities the first stretch of the road....17.1 km. Finally we came to the first little town, Caldadilla de la Cueza and stopped for a snack and some water. We moved on and made our way to Albergue Os Templarios - a very nice place to stay. We opted to stay in a room with two bunk beds and our own private full bathroom. We did not get roommates (two Danish women) did not arrive until after we finished our showers and got settled in, so that was kind of nice. The women live on a small island I had not heard of before - it is considered part of Scandinavia. They seem quite nice - one speaks English, the other understands it but does not speak much.
We will eat at the Albergue tonight rather than walking into town. The book says the resident family follow in the tradition of the Templars by offering wholesome home cooking. The town looks like a sleepy little place. I walked into town or find WiFi and some groceries so I am reporting from the Albergue here that has an open WiFi!
