The layout was pretty much the same, but they had moved and rearranged a lot of the food displays. So, I had to pretty much go down every aisle to find what I needed. Took about 1 1/2 hours or so. I only had 2-3 things I didn't find. I'm guessing they are there, I just didn't see them. I need to go to Spinney's on Wednesday, so I can look there. Why Spinney's??? I want some pork and they are the only grocery store around who has a pork section...in a separate room in the store. Arabs do not eat pork or touch pork...
This afternoon some of us went to a Labanese restaurant for lunch to say farewell to Don and Becky who are going back to the States soon. Becky ordered for us. These are the main dishes, but we also had wonderful bread and four great mezza dishes (appetizers). Everything was nicely seasoned and very tasty.
Al Hallab Restaurant and Sweets in the Garthoud area in Dubai is a great place. The restaurant
Is on the second floor and the sweets and coffee are on the first floor. It was a pretty setting and we'd recommend it. It is located across the expressway from the Creek Golf & Yacht Club.
You can see the usual bread in the basket by my arm. It came out warm and all puffy..."delish"!
Here are just a few of the tempting treats in the Sweets section of the Al Hallub.
And here are some chocolates they sell as well. The man behind the counter said they were from Lebanon. They sold them individually or packaged for your next little gathering. The one above was only 750 Dirhams...or about $250.00. Nice!
