On our way to see the Dancing Fountains we went to a huge wildlife sanctuary to see Dubai's flamingo population! What a treat! I don't think I have ever seen them in the wild before...
We walked out on this pathway that kept us hidden so we didn't scare the flamingos away. In the little shed at the end of the path there were only 8-10 inch high window cut outs for us to view them...minimal movement for them to notice us. Binoculars were provided for viewing.
You can see only a part of the refuge in these pictures. It is only minutes from major highways and the downtown area. A wonderful gift to the people who enjoy the experience.
The flamingos keep their heads in the water much of the time...
Not sure what the story is on the dark one...
At times their legs look too long and awkward.
But overall they are graceful and fun to watch.
As we were leaving a gentleman with a ginormous camera was headed out to take pictures.
Next stop, the Burj Khalifa...on Burj Khalifa Lake by the Dubai Mall.
The tallest structure in the world right now. We have heard that China and Saudi Arabia intend to build taller buildings in the near future.
