Andy's Birthday

Andy celebrated his birthday today by feeling the effects of allergy season.  Bummer!  He's been sniffing and blowing all day...and feeling a bit miserable.  He did get one of his favorite desserts for dinner tonight - apple crisp.  And I got him a new bottle of cologne called Signature made here in the UAE.  The lady in the store called it 'fresh'!  Will try and get a picture of him tomorrow...hopefully he will be feeling better.

If you read posts last week you know that I attempted to go to the Dragon Mart and never made it.  Today I was quite successful getting there, but unsuccessful in finding tablecloths.  There are multiple shops for curtains, bed spreads, and bath towels....but I only found one with tablecloths...and they were silky and ornate, not heavy duty and washable.  I must have asked a dozen people, and I got lots of suggestions in all parts of the mart, but to no avail.  I went back empty handed.

It was fun just walking around and people watching.  You could buy just about anything Chinese in this mall...anything.  From furniture to clothing, jewelry to toys, from incense to garden tools.  Quite amazing.  It's a long rambling maze of stores.  Some stores you walk through and end out the other side and end up in a completely different department.  It goes on for blocks...new and glitzy on the ends...older and more crowded together through the middle.

On the way home I made a stop at a little shopping area where we often get chicken on Firday nights.

Forsan chicken - eat in or have it delivered.  Quite good.
They have a little old fashioned bread bakery down the block.

Close by is a neighborhood mosque.

You see these billboards all around the country - the leaders of the seven Emirates pictured together.
