A New Experience

When we were in Dubai in 2014 it was summertime and tooooo hot to consider going to the beach.  This year we are here at a cooler time.  But, the prime time to go is still early morning - no crowds, cool sand, less intense sun.  My friend B is leaving for the States soon and wanted to go swimming.  She asked if I wanted to go.  Of course!

We left at 6:00 AM!  It took about thirty minutes to get there.  This beach is in Jumeirah and is located right next to Burj Al Arab on the Persian Gulf.

Burj Al Arab is reported to be the most luxurious hotel in the world.  There is a special online rate right now...the UAE Resident Rate STARTS at 3,300 AED...about $900.  Come on over!

The sand at the beach was soft and cool...by afternoon it will be so hot you cannot walk on it.  I checked the water temperature online and today it was 32C - 89F.

We walked out pretty far - it was soft, shallow and sandy all the way.  A few people were there.  Several were paddle boarding past the beach and we saw one or two kayaks.  We left about 9:00 and it was already starting to get quite warm.

Several vans and small buses stopped by - tourists hopped out and had 10-15 minutes to take pictures...and they were on their way again.

B wanted me to have a glamour shot - unfortunately I didn't cover up the guys on the beach.

They have updated the entire beach since last July...new bathrooms and rinse showers, a running path, palm trees, and this WIFI hotspot.  Not too shabby!

We stopped by one of B's favorite bakeries for a wonderful cheese bread and headed home.

Was a fun early morning adventure!

After lunch and Andy I ran a couple of errands and walked around the Mirdif City Centre - 465 retail stores, 5.9 million square feet, with 8 anchor stores and 80 restaurants.  I'm told it is the 3rd largest Mall in the UAE.

Neither of us slept well again last night...hoping we do sleep well tonight!
