Walking Around Town

The past three days have me a bit worn out and on the verge of a sore throat. Things have been busy and I haven't been sleeping well.  Really having trouble staying awake tonight and it is only 8:00.  Not real sure what brought it on, but hoping I can sleep well tonight and fight it off. Cooking and baking a lot and making daily trips to the grocery store. On Thursday I had time to take an early morning walk...Wednesday and Friday I walked at the mall.

I've ventured into some new neighborhoods and discovered some pretty homes and some unusual homes.  Quite fascinating...  This one sits on a corner and actually has some large unusual trees around it...not your typical date palms!

On the side of the same house is an example of an outside access to the roof.  Some stairways go straight up and have a cage like form around them so you cannot fall off the steep incline.

This wall around a house had a southwest feel to it...but I could not see much of the house
Itself.              And look!  A street with a nice variety of trees...

Outside a small strip mall was this clever bike rack...the first one of any kind I have seen
    anywhere in Dubai.

I couldn't get back far enough to get a complete picture of this mosque,
but I really like the design of it.

Lots of homes have flags flying but much of the time there is no wind, so it is hard to get a
picture.  This entrance to a home had a huge flag attached to it.

I found Mirdif Park today.  It's a small park but has everything you might need!  A couple of children's play areas...a track for jogging around the perimeter...a lovely sitting area...and a complete body workout area.  Pretty cool!

I would have to say this is the most unusual home I have seen in the Middle East!  It is dark in color, so unlike most of the homes.  The wall around it gives you a feeling of the old west - the bricks were made to look like wood.  It's boxy and big.  Just seemed out of place to me...

This one was very nice...looks like they may do a lot of entertaining under the tent...probably has air conditioning.

And this apartment complex is unlike any I have seen...unique angles and twists with each unit.

Last year it was way too hot to get out and walk much, so I have enjoyed these early morning jaunts.  We got out and about Dubai to see the sights more last time tho.  You might have to go to my posts from last year if you want to see the glitz and glamour of Dubai!

Well, I made it to 9:00.  Think I will go to bed. Have an early morning baking savory bread pudding for 30!  Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Thanks so much Nancy for keeping us posted on your observations of this amazing part of the world. It's fun to experience it though your eyes and thoughts as you wander through the neighborhoods and malls etc.
